Retail Design – Placing Big Products On The Left Is Critical

Posted in Business

Shelving and how products are placed on shelving is an important consideration of retail design. You should place the best selling products and the products that have the best profit margins at eye level.

Some companies may even give you better deals on product buys if you promise them key position on the shelf. You should also line up your products largest to smallest left to right, when there is more than one size of a product. The reasoning behind this is that people read left to right and look naturally to their left first.

By putting your bigger items on the left you are more possible to have patrons take the bigger size, which makes you more profits. Vacant space should be minimized as it uses up precious space in your business and does not look good.

The space between your shelves should be just big enough to comfortably allow people to remove the products. You should also ensure that your shelves are well stocked. If you have plenty of stock on hand you create confidence in the product and create more of a visual impact.
