Blu Ray Discs Should Be The Way Forward For HDTV

The digital world, no matter how advanced it is, is still faced with a few problems and inefficiencies in the products that are being offered. These are quite visible when trying to transport huge amounts of data from one place to another. The standard DVD which was seen as a high quality product is now seen as something not worth watching by many movie lovers.

With the introduction of the blu ray disc, studies confirm a major loss of sales for the standard DVD market. Although the blue ray disc looks a lot similar to the traditional DVD, it has more features and capabilities than the latter. Unlike the DVD which was read by a red laser, the blu ray disc is read by a blue laser projected on the disc and hence the name ‘blu ray disc’ was given.

One of the biggest advantages a blu ray disc has over its contender, the standard DVD is its enormous storage capacity. The standard DVD we all know has a storage capacity of around 5GB to 10GB, whereas the all new blu ray disc carries around 25GB to 50GB. The single layer disc comes with the 25GB capacity and the dual layer disc with a 50GB storage space.

Well if you only use DVDs for movies, games and music you might find that information a bit useless. Even though the increased storage capabilities means the ability to store about 10 movies, as many games or hundreds of audio tracks in a single blu ray disc. How impressive is that.

But all you movie lovers will have better news. The increased high definition effects for both audio and video in the blu ray disc will provide the viewer or listener with an experience of something out of this world. Home theatre has never been better than this. Movie theatres might have to be a bit careful. Most of your favorite older movies will probably be available already and many are sure to follow. Only the other week The Hobbit Movie fansite reported that the eagerly anticipated Lord of the Rings on Blu ray is to be available this Summer.

Since the blu ray disc is seen in many game devices such as the Playstation-3, Xbox and Nintendo, individuals who have a passion for playing games can benefit a lot out of this whole new experience.

Consumer producers of blu ray discs would also find a lot of advanced features that will suit the business needs like advanced security and anti piracy features. Regional codes make market segmentation and specialization much easier than what was before.

People are embracing this new technology rather gleefully around the world and why shouldn’t they. Blu ray discs should be available for everyone any time soon. Keep your fingers crossed till then.
